And the Saints go marchin’ in!!!

Oo-rah!   That was some game~~me and the guys had one heck of a good time hooting and hollering and  having an all around good time.   We were pretty evenly divided on which team we thought would win.   Alexis figured she didn’t really have a horse in that race, but as the game went on, she found herself cheering on the Saints.   Did anyone see the stat they flashed up on the screen after the game?   The one that pointed out the Saints had won 3 games in this post season series.  In the previous 42 years, they’d won 2–yeah, a total of 2 in 42 yrs.  No wonder they were partying big time after they won.   And a salute to the Colts, too.  They had one heck of a season.

Nuf about football.   We had sunshine this weekend and Saturday it was up to almost 60 degrees!   A far cry from the weather on the East Coast.   We’ve got rhodedendrons in bloom already, and Alexis noticed the bush by the deck is already leafing out.  Boy, if winter ever does arrive out here, the plants are sure to take a big hit.

I know some of you thought I should lay off of Hunter.   So does that mean I should remind him that his book is officially out two weeks from tomorrow???  Seriously?      tick tick tick    Of course, it could show up earlier in some places.  tick tick tick.

Happy Monday,

D.J.

    *facepalm & shaking head sadly*

DJ, DJ, you just had to go and poke the grizzly again, didn’t you? And after having reearned a GoOJF card just a week ago.

But honestly, I don’t think we expected you not to. If there’s anything constant in the universe, it’s people will always be dumber than you think and that DJ will be DJ. Lucky for you, we like/love you no matter what. For some reason, I doubt Hunter will be quite so generous.

l’m super excited about Hunter’s book (heck February is crazy with authors on my auto-buy list) but Hunter’s is my number one for the month. Second place is a tie between Nalini Singh’s ‘Archangel’s Kiss’ and Kresley Cole’s ‘Pleasure of a Dark Prince.’ *sigh* So happy so much good reading is coming out this month!

Alexis, one question. If ‘DtD’ does show up early (before official release date) in stores, does buying it early affect your sales ranking? I don’t want to mess up your standing on the best seller lists.

    Take care everyone.

Happy Monday, DJ, and congrats on the win!

I didn’t watch the game. I watched Kate and Leopold which, for some reason since I’m definitely not a chick flick person) I have become enamored of lately and can’t seem to watch it enough.

Right now, it’s sunny and 20 out here, but starting tomorrow late morning, or early afternoon, we’re supposed to finally get that snow. Ten inches or so. Not enough by my standards, but it will do :D

Two weeks tomorrow, huh? Can’t wait! Still waiting for yours though, don’t think I’m being a traitor at all. But it’s on order already, so I should get it as soon as it’s released.

Off to get milk so I don’t have to go out tomorrow or Wednesday. I can sit in front of the fireplace and watch it snow. And write. :)

Yeah not watching football game me watched the 2nd half of the game. The Saints did awesome. Course I think I’m staying away from NoLa for a while. LOL!

And Hunter’s book! Can’t wait to read it! As for the tick. tick. tick. thing… Wait till you’re waiting for YOUR release DJ… all these guys you’ve teased are going to get you back in spades. :)

Sue–Thanks for asking. Yes, things like bestseller lists are affected if the book shows up early because the lists are based on the sales in the first week after the official release date. However, I know how it is to spot a book that you’ve waited months for. . . ;-p

I am so glad you guy made that point about early releases affecting your sales, since I had no clue! Also DJ, behave ;) and I am so super excited for Hunters book! Oh and we’re at a balmy 65 out here but will probably drop if it rains tomorrow

Yes, we didn’t watch the game either. But I did take a stroll through Vancouver the other night. They’ve tarted up the city beautifully for the Olympics.

Throngs of people on the street wearing souvenir jackets, hoodies, mittens and the like. All with cameras in hand! It was quite fun and all the faces seemed excited and happy.

In the dept. store (The Bay or the Hudson’s Bay Company the oldest company in North America) they even had a pin swap. Olympic pin collectors could display and swap their pins…give a pin, take a pin…for free. No selling. Very fun.

Counting down for Hunter’s book…evil grin…will purchase the first week after release.

I think Alexis deserves a bestseller slot this time!

Great game. So glad the Saints won. I wish Hunter’s book was out now. I preordered…but that’s the only way I can remember…sorry Alexis, hope that doesn’t mess you up to bad… On day 3 of being snowed in with 10 more inches coming…well lets just say, I wished I had bought boxing gloves…. :) 60 degrees, I’m so jealous.

  8. D.J. Clayborne Says:
    February 8th, 2010 at 5:37 pm

Dee–Pre-ordering the book is just fine! I’m just flattered that all of you are so anxious for the book to come out–

*laughs* DJ you had better hide because once Hunter finds out about the teasing again you will probably be in a world of hurt, especially if Devlin also catches wind. You may be grounded for a while and Jake will have to hack in to keep us company.

Alexis- I can’t wait and it’s so exciting to know that the book is coming out soon. I will wait until the release date to get the book. Besides I have Cultural Diversity and Environmental Science that just started today of all things *flops over* I am on pins and needles to see what I got in Research writing (didn’t like how my essay came out) and Fundamentals in the Criminal Justice system.

anyways I watched the Superbowl and was disappointed in the Colts and their loss.

    anyways check back later.

Alexis thanks for replying. Of course with your books if I find it early I’ll buy it then buy another copy at the ‘proper’ time :-)
Have I mentioned I get a wee bit insane the closer release date gets for, books I’m wanting to read? lol!

  11. D.J. Clayborne Says:
    February 8th, 2010 at 7:24 pm

Sue–I can relate to that. I keep a small spiral notebook next to my computer and keep a monthly list of books coming out from writers I always buy. There’s just something about being there on the day the books first hit the stands.

    Alexis

I’m glad to know it’s not just me with the whole list of new books and their release dates! I have my Feb to buy list, and I also went crazy on Dec 29th trying to get a couple of books I apparently couldn’t wait to see at Target like 3 or 4 days later. I HAD to buy them right then, on release day…4 stores later! sigh, oh well, it’ll probably happen again even though I’ve pre-orderd Hunter’s book, but if it doesn’t come in a timely manner, I’ll have to hunt down a Borders!

List of books due out? About every other month I go to Books A Million and put in the names of my favorite authors then compare those titles to my already pre-ordered list. Let me just say - Books-A-Million LOVES me! LOL try a couple hundred dollars worth of pre-orders. Next month is scheduled for book ordering. Then comes the hard part - sitting on my hands waiting for delivery!

If I was a rich girl, I would buy all the books I want… Right now. I’m not so I’m saving for Hunters book. I’m so excited. This weekend I reread the series. Partly because I now own Blakes but mostly because of Hunters book. I can’t wait to read.

Wonderful shots, Caron. Thanks for the link. :D

I have all the new releases marked out on my calendar and I get an alert a few days before the release date so I can start keeping an eye out. I am so bad…

We have almost 5 inches of snow right now and it’s starting to get heavy again, so we finally have…SNOW!!! :yay:

    Happy, happy

    Good morning, everybody!
First, congrats on all the great grades–I knew you were all a bright bunch. After all, you’re all smart enough to choose me as your favorite. :-D

Delilah–Alexis sends along her happy dancing on your terrific review and the interview. That is just sooooo coool! She loved your cover, too. BTW, Black Velvet is one of her favorite songs.

Jake and Jarvis checked in–they’re ok. THe shaker was farther north, so their little stretch of heaven stayed stable.

Quick, while DJ isn’t looking. Did anyone watch NCIS last night? Whoa, mama! I so love the character Cpl. Damon Werth. Paul Telfer is seriously wonderful as a tortured hero. That was his third appearance on the show, and I like him better every time. I’m going to have use him as inspiration on a hero and soon.
Poor Tony–it’s obvious Ziva likes Damon, too. :-p

I’m inbetween books right now which means an empty TBR pile. With a small budget, I’m just re-reading old friends! D, just finished The Quickening last night! I’m so happy for you and Black Velvet! Congrats!

NM, I actually have your books in a box. Now, to get them to the Post Office. . . . .

DJ, of course we’re smart! And, I’ll be havin’ words with anyone who tries to convince me that you’re NOT my favorite. Of course you’re our favorite.

Alexis, I have NCIS recorded, but am a couple episodes behind. So, Shh, no spoilers. ;-) And, I’m not actually feeling to badly for Tony’s angst, as he mostly does it to himself. Poor baby. Does he remind you of DJ?

Today I’m off, so am catching up on Sanctuary and reading and of course cleaning and laundry. DJ, wanna help me with the dusting?? ;-)

I still have the “I’m so proud of your success” bookplate on my corkboard… When I feel I can’t do something - I just look at it and know that someone other than the hubby is proud of me.

  28. Laurie Says:
    February 10th, 2010 at 2:12 pm

Delilah! wow! How did I not know you have a series going? I am so on Black Velvet right now! How do I order it?
DJ-you are so cute! of course you’re our favorite :P

  29. D J Clayborne Says:
    February 10th, 2010 at 2:27 pm

Delilah–I’m glad that bookplate helps. We all need that occasional reminder that we’re doing better than okay.

I just got back from a shopping expedition with a friend. I wanted to look at some sport shoes that Easy Spirit has out so we hit the outlet mall. I got the shoes, then hit the Coldwater Creek store and got a couple of tops. I know DJ is rolling his eyes, but also got a nice pair of salad tongs. It was a good day.

And on that note, my publisher is doing some promo in anticipation of the release of Defeat the Darkness by pushing my backlist. They sent me this link, which is kind of cool–

D, we’re all proud of you! And awesome review, AND grade!!

    Dani, you too.

And I’m glad the barrier is quiet. I was worried too.

We had 14 inches of snow when I got up this morning. In about 18 hours. Have I mentioned that I LOVE snow? :D

  32. Dani Says:
    February 10th, 2010 at 10:40 pm

*laughs and shivers* as much as I miss the snow, the cold down here in SW Florida when we are used to 40’s is not fun when you are not prepared. Good think I have my leather coat, leather gloves, scarf and ear warmers for when I head home. Oh and I heard Illinois had a 4.3 earthquake earlier today. I used to live in Chicago and Fox Lake Illinois before moving to Florida to be with my family.

anyways DJ we love you lots *offers up white chocolate chip mint fudge cookies*

    check in later
