Brrrrrrrr

I know it is sunny and warm somewhere, but it’s not here in Seattle. Right now it’s 55 degrees at my house.  I’m sipping a big mug of moccha hot chocolate and listening to music while I edit the first 90+ pages of my second book in my new series from NAL,  The River of the Damned.  Right now Adelle is singing Rolling in the Deep.  She has such an amazing voice.  Next up is Nickelback singing Burning it to the Ground.  Love that song, too.  I just found the song the lead singer, Chad Kroeger, recorded a couple of years ago with Santana.  Love it. Also the one Rob Thomas did with Santana some time ago–Smooth.

Sorry I’ve been quiet again.  I got revisions and line edits on two different manuscripts within days of each other, so I’ve definitely had my nose to the grindstone.  I sent the second one off yesterday, so I’m reading the second fantasy to get back into the story before writing new pages. I’m having a lot of fun playing in this new world.

By the way, tomorrow the first excerpt in Lonzo’s story should post.  Hope you like it.

Alexis

Hope your weekend was better than mine. . .

Okay, I know that considering Seattle had sunshine while the other side of the country had a hurricane and tornadoes, I shouldn’t be complaining.  Having said that, I’m in the mood to complain.  First of all, the Mariners lost and lost again.  Then the Seahawks and the Chiefs both lost.  So much for sports.

Add to that the fact that Penn is driving everyone nuts because his story is coming out in just over two weeks.  I swear, you wouldn’t want to be around him right now.  He keeps dangling his bookthong in my face and telling me how much cooler  his is than mine.  Alexis wanted me to post a picture of  it today, but I refused.  Check back on Thursday.  I’m sure she’ll have it up by then.

And now, Lonzo is going to get a story done about him on Alexis’s website in the Members Only section.  Again, it should be posting on September 1st, provide the hurricane doesn’t interfere.  There’s no telling what that storm might do.

Alexis is almost done polishing up the fang boy.  Then she’s back to her fantasy world.  I don’t know how she keeps us all straight.

I’ll be around off and on, but you can expect Penn to show up on Thursday for a while.  He wants to tell you ALL about his bookthong himself. Seems he doesn’t think I’d do it justice.

She’s hanging with the fang boys again . . .

Hi, everybody! I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I watched football and baseball, so that was good.  Then Saturday night Alexis took me to an old fashion drive-in restaurant for dinner.  Carhops who come to your car to take your order  and then deliver it on one of those funky trays that hang on the driver’s window, and old Ricky Nelson music blaring from the speakers.  Great hamburger, great fries, and a really good chocolate milkshake.  By the way, is Alexis the only one who likes to dip her fries in a chocolate shake?  Seriously???

As I said, she’s hanging with Conlan Shea this week to revise his story.  Too bad he didn’t tell it to her the right way to begin with.  Well, so that was snarky.  She says the revisions won’t be bad at all, so that makes at least one of us happy.  She’s also got to come up with some different title ideas.  You might notice she didn’t ask me for suggestions.

I’ve posted some new pictures for you that I took for Alexis.  The previous owner of her house planted a lot of different plants, some of which pop up unexpectedly.  This pink lily is almost four feet tall.  Pretty if you like that kind of thing.

Well, off to work.  Might have to cross swords with Penn.  Alexis just got the book thongs for his book in the mail yesterday, and he won’t shut up about them.  Yeah, his book is only in e-format, but she thought he deserved his own thongs since Larem and I got some.  Don’t tell him that I said so, but his is pretty cool.

Monday is off to a slow start . . .

Morning, everybody!

I sort of blew the whole weekend in front of the tube overdosing on sports.  My Mariners beat the Red Sox two out of three, so that was good.  The Seahawks won; the Chiefs lost, but then it’s pre-season.  And at least we’re having a football season.

In my sports-induced stupor, I forgot to set it so that my blog would post at 1:00 a.m. like I usually do.  Alexis usuall reminds me, but she’s caught up in reading JIm Butcher’s new release, Ghost Story.  I swear, she’s had her nose in that book since she picked it up.  She loves his writing–such a great world and Harry Dresden, the only practicing wizard P.I. in Chicago, has such a totally wicked sense of humor.  She should finish reading the story today.  Then maybe she’ll get back to important things–like me.  <g>  Did I mention she keeps listening to Nickelback’s song, Burning It to the Ground?  Followed by Bette Midler singing “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and then Sam the Sham’s “Li’l Red Riding Hood?”  She thinks that last one should be the the theme song for anyone writing shapeshifter stories.  Sigh.

So did anyone do anything fun over the weekend?

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  It was pretty quiet around here.  The M’s lost Friday and Sunday, but managed to win on Saturday. Still the sun has been out and the weather warm.  Can’t complain too much.

Alexis decided it was time to feed the iPod again.  I swear, there’s no telling what that woman will buy.  She started off with “L’il Red Riding Hood” by Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs.  Next, something by Nickelback, Kenny Chesney, Dr. John, and Bette Middler.  She was laughing yesterday as she was working on the fantasy book to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”  It’s not that I don’t like her taste in music, but it’s the combination that stuns me.  Seriously, “Burn it to the Ground” by Nickelback followed by “The Rose” sung by Bette Midler.  Not exactly a smooth transition, if you get my drift.

BTW, she and Mandy at Stupid Shiny Designs are working on a book thong design for Penn Sebastian’s book.  From what I’ve seen, it should be cool.  It will be awhile, but she’ll post a picture when she has one.

Jake was wondering what you all thought of his story.  Alexis sure blindsided the jerk with that.  I don’t think he’s gotten over it yet.

Off to see what Devlin wants.  Maybe the light bulbs are getting dusty again or perhaps he wants me to give him the benefit of my wisdom on the latest crisis, whatever it is.  Yeah, right, I can see that happening.  Not.

I love surprises . . .

The mail carrier just dropped off a box with a great surprise for me.  Mills and Boon-Australia released six Nocturne Bites in one volume, including one of mine, The Vampire’s Desire.  I don’t think it’s available here in the States, but I still wanted to share!

A gift from me to you

Dear Readers,

As most of you know, the next installment in my Paladin series is Darkness on Fire, Penn Sebastian’s long awaited story which will be out the middle of next month.  I’m really excited about Penn finally finding new meaning in his life after all this time. As some of you might remember, the devastating injury to his arm actually happened before the beginning of Devlin’s story, Dark Protector. Penn made his first appearance in that book sitting out on the street doing guard duty as Devlin returned to Paladin headquarters after leaving Laurel’s lab.

For right now, Penn’s is the last Paladin story I have written.  I do have vampire stories scheduled for release in October and then again in June 2012, that I hope you all will enjoy. As much as I love the Paladins and the Talions, too, I am really looking forward to my new venture—a fantasy romance series for Signet Eclipse.

I’ve had so much fun building a whole new world filled with magic.  The series is called River of the Damned, and the title of the first book is My Lady Mage. It is scheduled for release in July 2012.  The series focuses on five heroes and the women they love, all of whom are caught up in an epic battle against evil. I think you will love Captain Gideon and his men as much as I do.

Finally, as a gift for all of your support and enthusiasm for my Paladins, I have posted a short story about Jake in the Members Only section of my website.  I didn’t want to leave him (or you) hanging.  I hope you enjoy it. I do plan to continue to write Paladin short stories–maybe it’s time for Lonzo get center stage.  hmmmm.
