time out for a couple of announcements

First,  I did an interview over at http://embracetheshadows.wordpress.com/ today about Hunter and other things.   I’ll be giving away an autographed copy of Defeat the Darkness to one lucky person.  Thought you might want to know.

And second, the next excerpt in Devlin and Laurel’s story in the Members Only section should post by Monday.   I hope you’ve been enjoying their journey as much as I have.  There should also be a new jigsaw puzzle up as well–this one is for Vampire Vendetta.

Enjoy your weekend,

 Alexis

WILL HUNTER FITZSIMON ENTER AND SIGN IN PLEASE . . .

defeat-the-darkness_not_final1.jpgOkay, I want to thank everyone for waiting so patiently for this week to finally arrive.  Sort of patiently, anyway.  You have to know that it’s been a long wait for me, too, since I first met Hunter back in 2005 until now.   So far, the reviews have been great, so I’m optomistic that you all will love Hunter as much as I do.   Hope your week is off to a great start!   Alexis

A gray day for me . . . and happy President’s Day!

 presidential_seal_2.jpg

Okay, it’s a gray day in my world, and it has nothing to do with the cloud cover here in Seattle.  No, I’m lost in that awful limbo where football season is over, but baseball season hasn’t yet started.  Yeah, I know the Olympics are going on, and that’s cool and all.   But it’s not the same.

Right now Alexis’s ‘keets are head-bobbin’ to Kid Rock.  I love that they’re little  head bangers.   Can’t fault their taste in music, either.  They seem to like a little of everything from metal to hiphop to the twangiest of country.   Old rock?  They love it.  Blues?   They get their little groove on.   It’s cute.

Oh, by the way, I think Jake’s a dead man.  He might just not know it yet.   The idiot sent Brenna a box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day.  Seriously.  Are you hearing me?    A box of chocolates to Trahern’s woman.   She thought it was sweet.   I won’t repeat what Trahern had to say on the subject, but it was colorful and pretty impressive how he strung all those obscenities together without repeating himself.   It didn’t help that Jake also sent one of those kid-sized boxes of chocolate to Trahern as well.  Gotta give the still-breathing corpse credit for a ballsy move.   I’ll let you know how it plays out.

I, on the other hand, bought a couple of boxes of those little Valentines kids exchange at school and gave one to everybody in sight.   My efforts were not appreciated.   I was hurt, I can tell you.   I even included some of those little candy hearts.

Enjoy your day—

Okay, I know you’re going to be a bit jealous, but I was just holding my first copy of Defeat the Darkness in my hands.  My wonderful editor and her assistant sent me two copies with a “hot off the presses” note attached.  How cool is that???
But the most amazing thing is, that this is the 20th book on my shelf with my name listed as the author.   Now that’s including an anthology I did with two other writers, but my name was on that cover, so I think it counts.   Twenty books–it’s hard to believe.

Many of you might have heard me say that I sold my first two books on one phone call back in the early 1990′s.  My first book came out in 1993, and the second was scheduled for release a month after the publisher went out of business.   Later that book was released by another publisher, but it was seven years from my first release in 1993 until the release of my next new sale in 2000.   You can only imagine how close I came to having only a two book career–both of them short contemporaries that would have looked awfully lonely sitting there on my shelf all by themselves.  I can remember thinking if I ever sold 5 books, I would have had a satisfactory career.  Then the number was 10.  Now there are these twenty books all lined up in a neat row.

I know some of you reading this are writers as well.   You may not have sold yet or you may have just begun your life as a published writer.  Don’t read this and think “Gee, twenty books.  That will never be me.”  I have friends who’ve sold way more books in the time I’ve sold twenty and others who’ve sold fewer.   We’re all at different points in our careers and move at a different pace.   The important thing is to cherish the journey, be proud of each step you take–whether it’s finishing your first manuscript, hurting over your first rejection, or celebrating a sale, whether it’s your first or your fifth or your twentieth.

As always, I couldn’t do this without all of you.

And the Saints go marchin’ in!!!

Oo-rah!   That was some game~~me and the guys had one heck of a good time hooting and hollering and  having an all around good time.   We were pretty evenly divided on which team we thought would win.   Alexis figured she didn’t really have a horse in that race, but as the game went on, she found herself cheering on the Saints.   Did anyone see the stat they flashed up on the screen after the game?   The one that pointed out the Saints had won 3 games in this post season series.  In the previous 42 years, they’d won 2–yeah, a total of 2 in 42 yrs.  No wonder they were partying big time after they won.   And a salute to the Colts, too.  They had one heck of a season.

Nuf about football.   We had sunshine this weekend and Saturday it was up to almost 60 degrees!   A far cry from the weather on the East Coast.   We’ve got rhodedendrons in bloom already, and Alexis noticed the bush by the deck is already leafing out.  Boy, if winter ever does arrive out here, the plants are sure to take a big hit.

I know some of you thought I should lay off of Hunter.   So does that mean I should remind him that his book is officially out two weeks from tomorrow???  Seriously?      tick tick tick    Of course, it could show up earlier in some places.  tick tick tick.

Happy Monday,

D.J.

Don’t tell DJ but the vamp has arrived!

Whoot!   The cover for VAMPIRE VENDETTA finally popped up so that I can post it!   I think it’s terrific (although I can hear what DJ will have to say on the subject!)   So here for your viewing enjoyment:

Hell hath no fury like a passion-hungry vampire bent on justice in Alexis Morgan’s sexy new saga

As the lone survivor of his vampire clan, Seamus Fitzhugh lives only for revenge. And now that he’s infiltrated the compound of his enemy his chance has come…until he rescues a stunning hybrid from certain death.  Megan Perez is a woman on the run from her own demons, and she’s a distraction that could cost them both their lives.  But the passion that burns between them is too hot to ignore, and not even the threat of danger can keep them apart.

Now their fates are intertwined–for better or worse–as they risk everything to experience the ultimate sensual release as evil closes in all around them.  Seamus must weigh how far he will go in the pursuit of vengeance…or love.

The clock is ticking!

Wow!  Did anyone notice the calendar?   Today is February 1st!     Which means three weeks from tomorrow is the official release date of Hunter’s book, Defeat the Darkness.  The poor guy is probably bouncing off the walls as he watches the minutes ticking away.   I know I would be, but then I tend to do that anyway.  :-D

It was mostly a quiet weekend.  Alexis has had her nose to the wheel churning out Larem’s story.  I don’t know about Larem, but for sure I’d be a bit nervous if she had that look on her face when she was messing with my life.  Seriously, she was typing away and when this . . . how best to describe it? . . . oh, yeah, this fiendish grin slowly spread across her face.  Me thinks that guy is in for a rough ride.   He may get his happily ever after, but he’s going to have to earn it.

Speaking of earning things, I earned back one of my cards from Devlin.  Aren’t you proud of me?   I mean, really, it’s back in my wallet, ready to be whipped out the next time I  . .  well, you know.   Anyway, it helps to be the closest techie when the big man manages to screw up his computer–again.  Yep, I put on my Super Tech outfit, complete with the snazzy cape with the big red ST in the center, and swooped into to save his ass.  That’s me, Devlin’s hero.

Well, at least for a few minutes.
